The faint warmth of the morning sun shone softly through the glass paned window, illuminating a spot on the wood floor with blinding brilliance. The curtains concealed most of the window leaving much of the room still shrouded in darkness. As such, the temperature of the room remained cool and sent shivers along Alkirn's bare body. His mind was still heavy with sleep and he hadn't the energy to pull the covers over himself. Instead, he turned to the side away from the bright window, his thoughts set on finding Akari. He felt heat tenderly radiating from a body nearby and Alkirn opened his eyes groggily to see if it was her. Through the haze of sleep and the little light shining, he made out a bare bodied individual with distinguishable black hair. He smiled as he closed his eyes.
He touched her face subtly with a loving stroke lead by his nose. He started at the top of her cheek, hearing her breath catch silently as he moved down to her lips. Gently, he took them in his grasp, sucking playfully on her bottom lip. It wasn't long before she started to respond. Her lips began to move, steadily at first, but the longer they dragged on the kiss the more intense it became. Her tongue jutted its way into his mouth, tasting, exploring him as she tangled her fingers roughly in his hair. Alkirn moaned as their tongues viciously stroked one another, and somewhere close by he could hear another male's voice sigh. Ah yes, Alkirn remembered, there had been another couple screwing in the same room with himself and Akari last night. He and a demon decided to torture their mates by sexually arousing one another, something which Alkirn noted was a very odd experience. Nevertheless, after the both of them had driven their mates crazy with lust, Alkirn had the best sex in his life with Akari to date. God, how violently she took him, how she came for him so intensely...
It didn't dawn on Alkirn until after he had subconsciously wrapped his leg around Akari's waist and rubbed his hips to hers that there was the strangest feeling. Strange, yet familiar, but he knew it wasn't something he felt with Akari... His eyes slowly opened as realization came at a sluggish pace... Then who was he kissing?
She had been awake for several minutes and so she sat with the redheaded female who seemed somewhat confused.
ReplyDeleteHonestly. . . after Akari had sobered up she realized, with great embarrassment, what had happened last night. Well... it wasn't all bad. Alkirn had been frenzied, dominating and damn . . . the way he took her.
"Hey. . . pst" Akari's attention was drawn the the red headed female who pointed over to the males on the bed. What Akari saw nearly stole her breath. It was all she could do to keep from laughing.
Alkirn was literally making out with the demon. It was enough to have Akari aroused and struggling to refrain from laughter.
It seemed that Alkirn realized this slowly, but surely because after a couple of minutes he jumped back screaming and cursing. Akari and the female broke out in laughter as the boys stared at each other in disbelief.
"Aw, come on sweetness, we were having such a nice time." The demon cast Akari's mate a charming, smug grin. Alkirn seemed completely taken aback, growling and cursing the demon.
Akari laughed, drawing his attention to her.
"Akari?! Why didn't you say anything, damn it." but she could only answer with more giggles. Oh, Al, you're so cute!
Luka smirked, feeling the confusion toiling within Ara... along with a definite possessiveness. Obviously she wasn't as amused with his and Alkirn's little act than Al's was. Luka flashed her his signature grin along with a reassuring wink and it was enough to loosen her up. Al was still cursing off in the distance, though it was under a shallow breath he laid the curses. Dude needed to chill.
ReplyDelete"Well, I say we got breakfast out of the way." Alkirn shot him a look that, if it could, would kill anyone. Luka laughed, and was able to get a giggle out of the girls. He had to admit, things never got boring having Ara around. She single handedly beat up three people while he was gone doing damage control AND she tortured the living shit out of him during the foursome last night. Damn, if that's how it was going to be all the time, he needed to attend more parties.
She could feel his happiness and joy. It filled her senses, giving her a sort of high. Her laughter mingled with his, never before had she been with someone who actually cared. Who could make her laugh as she did now.
ReplyDeleteHe had saved her in more than one way.
"Luka?" His beautiful, crystal blue eyes turned to meet hers, that wonderful grin on his face. God, he truly was the sexiest man she'd ever seen.
Thank you. His voice made her jump, she blinked at him. Had he . . . communicated with her through thought?
Yes, its freaking amazing! You should try it. Don't worry, its because of the bond. Time Demons don't come equipped with telepathy.
. . . Really? Her heart raced slightly. It made sense, she had never had a bond with anyone so, she would trust his explanation.
"Um, I don't. . . want to interrupt your guy's moment. . . but, do you mind if we uh, have my room back?" The black haired female spoke. All eyes turned to her and suddenly Ara remembered.
Oops. Yea, Luka I think we need to go, this isn't. . . and. . hey, where do you live?
The lovely smile that usually lined his face. . . disappeared. He blinked at her before turning his gaze.
"Yep! Lets go." He picked up his clothes, dressed, and then waited for Ara to dress.
"Luka, answer the question."
"um, We'll talk about this outside."
She slipped on her shoes before following him out.
"You don't have a place. . . do you?" His arm came around her shoulder. His silence was enough of an answer. "Great. . ."
The demon and the redhead departed and Alkirn plopped himself on the bed, his arms resting upon his knees as he attempted to calm himself and clear his head. His eyes were closed, his breaths slow and calculating, locking away any sour emotions that had arisen from this whole experience. The morning sun heating the stagnant and floating dust consumed the majority of his senses, but he could easily distinguish Akari's scent as she approached him. There was one smell he couldn't quite identify with clear certainty. It was floral, but darker, more potent... almost like-
ReplyDelete"What's on your mind?" He felt small, tender hands upon his cheeks and he opened his eyes to the shimmering green of Akari's. "Fiancé?" He grinned and she smiled in response. With one hand he reached up, lightly enclosing Akari's hand in his while his other outstretched to caress her face.
You know what's on my mind, he thought as his lips brushed the palm of her hand in his grasp.
Yes, Akari replied, snuggling herself in Alkirn's own hand. But I like hearing the sound of your voice.
He chuckled, tracing the lines in her hand with the tip of his nose. This woman never ceased to amaze him. She'd have him worshiping wolves by the end of the week, he was sure of it.
"I heard that," she warned playfully. He couldn't help but smile.
"I'm just taking in the scents," he mumbled, moving the inside of her wrist.
"Yes, I can smell the fragrance of calla lilies blooming this morning."
"But that's just it..." Calla lilies was his mother's signature smell, and right now it was strangely prominent. He thought she would want to stay away from him after he... their last encounter. Yet the scent was somehow more ominous, the strength of it more poisonous than pleasant. Whoever it was watching them close by... Alkirn highly doubted it was his mother.
"Oh, Alkirn, you're probably just overreacting. It was a crazy party after all, maybe. . . she just got around?" The explanation was ridiculous, even she didn't believe it much.
ReplyDeleteThen how do you expect me to believe it, love? Alkirn laughed softly, pressing a kiss on her cheek.
I thought you could since, it's making me uneasy too.
The fact that both of them felt this way put them both on edge. Something was definitely wrong.
"Akari, get dressed." His voice seemed urgent now. Whatever it was, he apparently wanted them out of the room, and fast.
"Right." She hurried over to her closet, choosing clothes that would be comfortable enough to fight in, should they be forced to do so.
"What do you think it is, Alkirn?" She said as she walked out to meet an already dressed Alkrin.
"I don't know, but i don't like it. Come on, we have to leave."
Before she could even think about where they were going, Al took her hand and they teleported out. When they arrived at their destination Akari struggled to remain on her feet. The feeling always happened when ever he did that. She grew nauseated and unsteady on her feet.
"Alkirn! God, a warning.. before you do that crap." She bent over, placing her hands on her knees for support as she tried to regain her senses.
"Sorry, love, I had to get us out of-" He stopped mid sentence causing Akari to become alert, her gaze snapping up in search of Al's.
What's wrong? She asked him, feeling the uncertainty flowing from her mate.
I don't know. That was just it wasn't it? They didn't know what was out there, the feeling of danger was overwhelming and they didn't know the source.
"Well, Al, just-" she felt herself being kocked down by a great force. She didn't even have a chance to scream as an iron grip took hold of her throat.
"Akari!" She could hear him shout and her eyes flickered from side to side in an attempt to see who was the assailant but it was to no avail.
There was an array of grunts and growls before she felt the hand release her. Instantly she fell to her hands and knees, gasping for air, coughing as the burning sensation overtook her.
"Alkirn! What's going on?! But he didn't answer, she could feel his mind fully focused on the enemy.
Now would be an excellent time for her fucking chaos to take over. It never arose when it was needed, did it? And now there she was, a uselessly trying to regain her breath as her mate fought the enemy alone.
Alkirn's focus was completely consumed with the assailant, noting subconsciously the oddity of the man's long, black hair, crimson eyes, along with the aforementioned calla lily fragrance... Definitely vampire. A distant cousin? No... judging by the distinct, dark signature he emitted, Al knew this man's origins. Someone broke his chains.
ReplyDeleteThe white of the man's robes danced, obscuring Al's vision as the enemy cackled deviously as he struck at blank points of Al's defense. He was swift, his movements clean, clearly a person of great power and stability... but young nonetheless and his recklessness would cost him. There were small instances of vulnerability... The man threw a punch, his body poised entirely into the attack... There! Alkirn sidestepped, crouching low as he counterattacked.
"Good," rang the man's voice immediately followed by a forceful knee thrust into Al's face, sending him tumbling back onto the ground. He stomped onto Al's abdomen, pinning him on the flat of his back, a distant yet excited air resonating in the man's eyes. "But overall... disappointing. Hardly worth the title of Destroyer." Destroyer? That was a new one. Well, then, guess it was time to live up to that title... within the destructive nature purred, ready to cause mayhem... Game over.
"Ah, ah, ah." The man raised his hand, a power invisible yet tangible emanating through it, paralyzing Al. Frozen, staring up at the man, Al's mind worked fervently to regain his motor functions all the while attempting to push back the possibility that the signature of this man's power might prove to be true...
"Yes," boomed his voice, cutting across Al's train of thought. "The name is Klaive... I'm sure you can deduce the rest." Their eyes were locked, neither betraying a hint of their inner thoughts and it seemed like an eternity before the man spoke once more. "Laufeia," he called. Al heard movement off in the distance but refused to sever eye contact to see what it was. "Keep dear old dad busy while I address his mate." Oh, like fuck you will. Al struggled against the dark bonds binding him from movement as Klaive looked on rather bored and quite disdainful. The fight for control lasted minutes until finally Klaive leaned forward to rest on his knee, causing more pressure on Al's stomach.
"You'll never beat me," he whispered, the venom in his voice dripping heavily on every word. "The monster within you is caged... and if you don't let it out..." A gloved hand rested lightly over Al's face, fingertips pointedly touching his temples. Al recoiled at the touch, feeling the ominous powers of his own Auranov nature stirring beneath. "... It will consume you."
Unending pain followed. The Auranov within abruptly fought violently against the seal and the bond of Klaive's powers could not contain Al's retaliation to the sudden avalanche of agony. His screams could not do his pain justice; it was beyond explanation. It felt as though he were being stabbed, lit on fire, torn apart, crushed, and drowning all at once. The will to break free was more prominent than ever before and if there were ever a time before where he felt like he were on the edge of death, it could not compare to how he felt now. Dammit... Klaive... how did he know... about the seal... and his powers of destruction... ...?
Akari screamed in unison with Alkirn. His pain radiated through her, tearing through her body like needles flowing through her veins. This was so much worse than any pain the seal caused, what did that bastard Klaive do?!
ReplyDeleteAnger fueled her, pushing aside the pain with a burning urge to end Alkirn's pain and the only say she could think of was to take down the vampire assailant.
For once, her chaos complied, she did not need to reach down far to find it already raging within her.
But what if the vampire knew of her chaos? Clearly he had been watching them for some time. The ease he had in taking down Alkrin was enough proof of that but she couldn't sit back and wait for the answer. She moved, her body launching toward him, hand poised to strike but she wasn't stupid. She knew going in head on would be the exact opposite of what she should be doing. Just as she reached him she feinted right, turning midstep to land a blow onto his side before jumping back to put some distance between them. Akari tried to remain focused on her target. . . but it was proving to be difficult.
Alkirn's screams, his emotions all rang through. The searing pain he was feeling tore into her heart.
Please Al, hold on.
"Oh, come on, if you are going to put up a greater fight than that sack of old bones over there, I will be greatly amused." He spread his arms out wide in a taunting gesture.
Calm yourself Akari. . . yep, he knew about her chaos. He knew she was quick to lose control, and once lost she was vulnerable to calculated attacks.
A slow, wicked smile appeared on his face, "maybe you will entertain me for a bit."
Akari growled, shifting as fast as she could, but by the time she was in her wolf form it was too late. He struck at her throat, hitting the weakened area where he had strangled her before. Her air pipe closed, she heaved, coughing as she tried to get air into her lungs. He laughed, teasing her as she attempted to catch him in her jaws.
Just one slip, one false move and the vampire was done for, she knew, but with Alkirn writhing in misery just a few yards away and her instincts pulling her to his side, it seemed near impossible to land a solid blow to him.
He was just playing with her now, and by that point she was not getting any air.
She stumbled, falling onto the ground with a thud, her body reverting back to her human form.
"Tisk tisk, a disappointment just like daddy over there. But its ok, we'll get you all rested and ready for the fun we are going to have. You little bond with father will be just the PERFECT thing." He crouched next to her, his dark strands of hair blew softly over his face. Effortlessly, he lifted her into his arms and threw her over his shoulder.
"Lets go, Laufeia. We got what we came for." A loud cackle resounded through the light air as he took in his victory. He did look very much like Al, that was for sure. He truly was his son, and if he was anything like Alkirn was in his younger days. . . Akari knew this would not end well for anyone.
He watched in utter despair as his son gathered the spoils, his course set westward opposite the rising sun. The fear Akari felt coursed through Alkirn’s own veins, the feeling of utter dread… it consumed him as much as the pain did. His heart wrenched; Klaive was powerful, merciless… a reflection of Al’s own essence eighteen years ago.
ReplyDeleteNo. He refused to let this happen. The seal, his weaknesses, would no longer stop him from the only beacon of hope left in his life. What he deserved, be it pain or happiness (as Akari had always attempted to convince him), he would accept it gladly. If he was going to get what he wanted, what he needed, and keep it… He’d have to start fighting for it.
Laufeia motioned herself to follow Klaive and in her split moment of hesitation, Alkirn struck. She was quickly subdued; an oddity he noted and, with his newfound desperation driving him forward, he began a despicable act he had not done in eighteen years. A hand poised over her face, as Klaive’s had been over Al’s, Laufeia struggled fruitlessly as her very essence was slowly flitting away and becoming absorbed into Alkirn’s body. She pleaded helplessly for mercy and, with the increase of power he obtained straining the seal even more, he released the girl from his grasp. Left near dead and powerless her daunting red eyes expressed fear yet also serenity, someone obviously not afraid to die but afraid of life itself and its many horrors. He understood that fear all too well but now was not the best moment for sympathy.
“… How?” he growled, knowing the vagueness of his question encompassed everything he could not comprehend.
Laufeia, looking simply exhausted and weak, understood his meaning and took several breaths before offering an answer. “I managed to break free. Klaive guaranteed his power could help me if I freed him.” He waited patiently as she gathered the last remnants of her strength to continue. “He hates you… He’s using the connection to gain the upper ha-“
“WHAT connection?” His patience rapidly growing thin, he picked Laufeia by the collar of her shirt. Every second wasted here was another second Akari was slipping out of his reach. He hissed at the thought; this would be the last time it would happen… his weakness would cost Akari no more. “Answer me!”
Her eyes flickered ominously and a small echo of pride reverberated in her eyes. “… Secrets reside with those you’ve forgotten long ago. We are all connected to you… we know everything about you since… our beginning…”
A connection… The hardened sincerity in her gaze told Alkirn she wasn’t lying, but the nature of her intentions had yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, if anything, he owed her for her cooperation… the extent of his appreciation, however, was up to him. Once more poising his hand over her face, he began to concentrate on the ties binding him as they progressively unraveled.
“I lack the knowledge to remove it… but I will tell you how to transfer it. As you can see…” Laufeia gasped airily, the effects of the seal beginning to take hold upon her. Slowly but surely, the restraining hold on Alkirn lessened with every passing moment and the Auranov within him relished in the freedom it was finally granted. “… I can’t be burdened by this anymore.”
He set her down, small whimpers of pain escaping her lips, and hastily set forth towards the path leading to his beloved Akari.
She didn't know where she was, her mind was completely disoriented as Klaive tossed her onto the cold hard ground.
ReplyDeleteAlkirn. . .
I'm coming, love, just hold on.
His voice sounded stronger in her mind. The weight of the seal no longer bearing down upon him, the pain was no more. . .
"Well, here we are. I'm sure you won't recognize this place, but my dear old dad sure will." He crossed the room, or at least his shadow did. It was too dark for Akari to see, her vision had not yet accustomed. As if reading her thoughts he continued, "Oh, allow me to shed some light for you."
They flickered on, the brightness caused Akari to blink several times before adjusting properly. . .and what she saw sent tremor through her body. It looked like an old, abandoned hospital. A bed equipped with iron restraints sat on the far edge corner. The counters were old and covered with rust and mold. The stench was horrid as it reached her nostrils, sterile and thick. The walls seemed to bleed with a yellow substance that ran down its sides freely. It looked like a room taken straight out of a horror movie.
"Go on, let him see. I want him to know exactly. . .what is going to happen to you."
Tears stung her eyes as she fought for control over her emotions, but as her eyes scanned the room more dread began to settle and panic began to flare within her heart.
No. . . Alkrin's sweet voice filled her mind, leaving her with as much relief as dread at the tone.
W-What is it Al-
"Come on then, lets get started." Akari screamed when she felt him grab a handful of her hair and drag her over to the bed.
"No!" She struggled fruitlessly against his hold, desperately trying to claw at him as he strapped her onto the forsaken bed.
"I'm so glad you two share that little bond. It makes it all the more satisfying really." He smiled, grazing a small line of blood on her cheek with his claw.
"I . . . w-won't let you hurt him!" She was determined not to allow a single one of his tortures to get to her, doing so would leave Alkirn at a disadvantage. But it was easier said then done.
The young wolf was not accustomed to the amount of torture and pain the he was surely capable of. And as her eyes glanced at the medical instruments that sat beside Klaive on a cool metallic tray, she realized this as truth.
His footsteps pounded loudly against the ground; at times it felt the earth itself shook with every step he took. Akari's scent was strong to trace but the bond they shared revealed to Alkirn her location and, with a bitter, poisonous truth coursing through him at the thought, would have been able to find it even without her signature guiding him there... like breadcrumbs to a hell house. He was a good few yards out before he felt a twinge of pain and Alkirn would be damned if it were the cause of the seal he'd just relinquished. As he began to concentrate on it, however, Alkirn felt a straining sensation like that of when one holds their breath for too long. He closed his eyes and focused, his sights set on seeing through Akari's eyes like an electric current. Slowly, he opened them, and saw Klaive hovering above him with a scalpel in his hand. Something flickered in Alkirn's memories, associated with a touch of terror, and it was this sudden change that alerted Akari to his presence in her mind.
ReplyDeleteNo! Alkirn stumbled, having been slammed back into his own body once more, and grabbed a nearby tree for support. He panted, realizing that Akari had been trying to mar the connection between them... to save him from the pain. Alkirn sighed; did he really come off as so fragile? He straightened himself and continued forward, knowing he was without the tactical advantage of the element of surprise. Klaive was connected to him, as Laufeia had put it... connected how? Guess now was the time to find out.
The old building gradually grew maliciously taller as he advanced and each detailed scrape that came into view seemed to evoke the details of his past at this accursed place. It wasn't until he came to the broken double-doored entrance did he realize his heart was pounding. Anxiety pulsed in his veins along with a deep hatred prevalent as he growled to himself. He swore he'd never return, by force or by will... The doors opened with an ominous screech, revealing behind its wretched facade an endless broken and battered hallway. Papers lay about a shattered tile floor, the walls left naked and damaged, and there lied besides the smell of ancient dust a stomach churning stench of stale death. Alkirn took a deep breath, letting his memories arise as he passed by the remnants of his past walking by: doctors conversing with one another, patients screaming down the hallways as security took them to the cellar, and the nurses crisscrossing from room to room to check on the more docile patients... They all existed in his mind's eye, doing the same routine they always did every day of his life he'd been there. The screaming grew more vivid with each step and his heart nearly caved in when one nurse walk in front of his path, as if leading him to the room he needed to go to. His skin crawled, his anger rose, and the screaming intensified. The nurse kept disappearing, then reappearing several feet more ahead of him, like a scratched disc in a movie player until she finally vanished into the last room on the right. And then, at that moment, a terrible shriek of pain and mercy arose that had Alkirn freeze where he stood. They were his own, he knew, and when he entered the room Alkirn was certain he'd find himself there strapped to the bed and subjected to the torture he'd faced so long ago...
He came around the corner, reality slapping him hard in the face as his sights were met with not the memory of himself and the nurse, but of the black haired demon in white mercilessly abusing Akari. Alkirn gazed, waiting, as the very fires of Hell seemed to ignite in his heart. Akari's cries slowly quieted to mere whimpers and Klaive straightened before he sighed and turned towards his father.
ReplyDelete"You took your time. Strolling through memory lane, were you?" Klaive flashed him a fanged smile, leaning his weight onto one foot and allowing Alkirn a window to see the damage he'd done to his mate. The sight nearly made him break his apathetic facade with unrestrained fury as Akari lie there, naked, adorned in cuts and bruises all across her body glistening from the sweat. He flickered his gaze back to Klaive, his nostrils flaring and his body pulsating violently.
"What connection?" Alkirn growled, his mouth stiff in an attempt to keep his cool.
Klaive cackled gleefully. "Laufeia should learn to keep her mouth shut."
"WHAT connection?" he repeated more balefully.
"The connection of SIN," shot back Klaive, bellowing the last word. "We are connected to each other through your mother... our mother... and in turn to you, dear father, with the brothers and sisters of mine you ruthlessly killed!"
"You were sealed away."
Klaive cocked his head and laughed. "The angel's fall loosened her hold upon us who were allowed to remain alive... lives better off dead."
"Oh ho... I'll say..." Channeling the boundless flow of hatred and ire into sheer, raw power, both the Auranov nature and the destructive force coursing through Alkirn danced in delight as the air thickened heavily with exponential energy. Lamps hanging from the ceiling moved to an ominous wind, the few closest to him exploded spontaneously and fell to the ground as little more than dust. The old building whined and complained as the growing power caused pressure on the walls and soot fell as a warning of the ceiling's weakening hold. A demonic, fanged smile played across Alkirn's lips as he watched the young Auranov betray the fear and anxiety in his eyes and it seemed the both of them knew this was the beginning of the end for Klaive... So they might as well end it with a bang.
All she felt was the pain that radiated through every part of her body. The cuts and bruises ached while the more sever wounds burned like acid. Her mind was blurred, completely out of focus from a mix of drugs he'd placed into her system. She no longer knew where she was, much less why she was in such agony, the only thing that made sense was Alkrin.
ReplyDeleteHe was here, she could sense it, and somehow, focusing on him kept her from getting lost in the fog.
Muffled shouts drew her attention towards the figures of two men. One was fairly close to her, his stance was tense and alert. . . he looked so much like Al. But his scent was wrong. Everything about him was just. . . wrong. No, it wasn't her vampire, but whoever it was, he was going to die. How she knew this, she wasn't really sure. She just did.
Perhaps it was because of the power emanating from the other male. A great power that stripped the walls of their paint, and eventually their plaster. It shook the room, broke the windows, shattered any glass in its proximity. She should have been scared, but she wasn't. Somehow, she knew this power wouldn't hurt her, the only danger lay with the vampire standing next to her.
"You wouldn't try anything with me so close to your precious wolf! Would you, dad?" The man next to her sneered. As if to emphasize his threat, she felt him pull her off the cold surface of the examination table and place her in front of him. All the blood rushed to her head, as if she needed any more light headedness.
"You're playing a very dangerous game. I will tell you now, you won't win." The voice now came from the man in front of her. Its sound was all it took for her to finally identify who he was.
"Alkirn." She said aloud, surprised at how rough her voice sounded. It was weak and quiet, so quiet that she was sure that he hadn't heard her. But he had. She knew it because she felt a soothing touch in her mind that could only come from her beloved mate.
"Look at her," He took hold of her hair, using it to yank her head up and meet Al's eyes. "do you really want to risk her?"
The steady stare that Alkrin held seemed to shake the male holding her. She felt the fearful tremors that passed through his body as he used his last resort, what she knew, was his last resort. Akari couldn't help but feel pride for how well her vampire was taking the situation. The only thing that stood in the way of his finnish off the little welp was her.
Come on, Akari. All you need to do is move. She thought to herself, trying as hard as she could to muster up any reserve energy to even attempt movement. But her efforts were met with frustration. She was useless. Not being able to so much move a finger, much less her body. She was at the vampire's mercy, at the hands of Alkirn.
Whatever happens Al, she directed her thoughts to him, you kill this bastard. No matter what.
Alkirn bowed his head slightly, lava-like heat consuming the blood in his veins and the wrath of a thousand gods surging within yet still he did nothing. How he was able to keep calm was a mystery but Alkirn had more important matters to dwell upon. That piece of filth DARED to even so much as touch Akari; DARED to claim that Alkirn's blood flowed through HIS veins.
ReplyDelete"Look how you cower," Alkirn hissed, the sheer intensity of his voice close to making the entire room vibrate. "You hide behind the backs of others like the fucking wimp you are, like how you did with Laufeia, your own SISTER. And here you are again crossing boundaries, practically writing your own death sentence."
"The only one who'll be dying here is you!" bellowed Klaive, shoving the weakened body of Akari toward Alkirn. He rushed forward and caught her clumsily in his arms; Alkirn's concern for Akari's welfare was cut short when Klaive took the opportunity to strike. Poised for battle and focusing wholly on his target, Klaive's arm seethed with dark power, enough to render both Akari and Alkirn useless if it hit straight and true…
There wasn't much time to react. With his mate locked securely in his arms, Alkirn dove for the floor as Klaive's attack brazed his shoulder, eliciting a burning and painful sensation but otherwise the wound was not severe. Alkirn took the brunt of the fall and slid Akari smoothly out of his grasp as he rose into battle with Klaive, who readied a counterattack almost immediately. The boy's response time was impressive… his defense, however…
The clawed right cross was easily dodged and, channeling the exponential power resonating with ire and destruction, Alkirn aimed squarely into Klaive's abdomen. The young Auranov gasped as his breath was stolen completely, making it easy work to render him helpless against the decaying hospital wall with an earth-trembling boom.
Klaive flailed uselessly in Alkirn's grasp, the unreserved hatred in his eyes never wavering as they held contact with Alkirn's gaze. The blissful euphoria of victory could not even penetrate through the pit of pure, raw hatred roiling within Alkirn himself. There were so many he had failed and no way to repent for any of the mistakes he had made. He had wronged them all… if there was any place to start the road to rebirth, now would be as good a time as any.
"You are not even worthy of death," Alkirn growled, his grip upon Klaive tightening marginally and evoking panicked struggles from the boy. "… I'll see you in Hell."
All at once the fear melted away as an unexpected, fanged grin emerged from the mask of fright. "Until next time, old man."
A faint, dark glow began to shine from Klaive's hands, one gripped snuggly around Alkirn's as the other pointed directly towards his face. Without a second thought, Alkirn shoved him aside with enough force to fling him towards the adjacent wall. Alkirn ducked to the ground back to Akari lying huddled on the floor and shielded her with his body as an ominous, searing power erupted within the room with a flash of black. It shattered the windows and blew out nearby beams in the wakes of sheer, absolute darkness, causing debris to fly all throughout the room. As quickly as it came, the blast was gone within seconds and, as Alkirn braved to lift his head, so too was the cold and enigmatic Klaive Roseland.
If she could have moved she would have, but body was not about to comply. The sound of what seemed like an explosion was loud enough to leave Akari's ears ringing. She was hardly aware of what was even going on, her conscious mind was beginning to slip and it was all she could do not to let the darkness consume her.
ReplyDeleteShe was vaguely aware of a soft, familiar touch glide over her cheek and the low, rough voice that accompanied it. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she understood what he was saying, but she couldn't bring herself to answer;almost as if her body was not completely convinced that it was over. A soft whisper seeped into her mind, reminding her of the barriers she had placed there and for whatever reason, she knew it was safe. She let her guard down and she sighed in relief as the last of the strain left her already exhausted mind.
Immediately, she felt the calm wash of her beloved mate's mind.
Akari?
Oh, God. The sound of his voice swept through her, finally breaking through the ice of her mind. It was over. Alkirn was there with her, and he was safe too. But this was all she could do. It seemed that her mind and body were too tired to function coherently. She knew she was safe, she knew that the worst was over and yet, even within the confinements of their bond, Akari couldn't answer him. That thick haze was still prominent and she was lost in it's fog. It was almost a final, cruel, sense of torture that the Klaive had managed to enact and it enraged Akari to no end.
She could feel Alkirn's worry and concern when she didn't respond, even felt his cool touch over her pulse just to ensure she was still alive and breathing. Soft curses echoed in her mind, echoes she wished she could answer.
The only reason she was even aware that he had picked her up and began moving was because of the pain that soon followed. Her body protested at being shifted even in the slightest of ways and it amazed that the only sounds she managed to make were moans and not screams.
And then it only got worse. Suddenly she was placed on a soft surface, movements flickered at the corner of her vision and she could have sworn her mother's voice rose above the chaos raging within Akari.
But she didn't want her mother. She wanted Alkirn. She just wanted to hold and be held by him. Stop. . . stop. . .
"Akari, honey, don't move." Yep, it was her mother alright.
Another familiar voice belonging to Star came from next to her. "If she keeps moving, we'll have to knock her out, Sakura."
Panic coursed through her at the mere thought of more needles. No! She wanted to scream but her mouth didn't move! Please, no!
"Don't. She's been injected with who knows what, if you try to put more into her system you'll make it worse."Alkirn stepped in, his hand coming around hers as he tried to calm her down.
Stay with me. . . Is what she wanted to say, but nothing but blurred thoughts made their way to her. It was frustrating, to feel so out of control, to want something and not be able to express it.
Ugh! Akari focused all her energy on the forefront of her mind. It took a while, for her to fully see the ceiling above her and focus on it. She willed herself out of the muck, and it seemed at the most _perfect_ time. So perfect, she couldn't have planned it better herself.
Her eyes turned to meet those of her mothers as her gaze turned towards Star. The expressions on their faces were of pure shock as they eventually met Alkirn's gaze.
What. . . what was wrong?
It wasn't until she became increasingly aware of Star's hand hovering ever so lightly over Akari's abdomen that she realized the possible reason for their grim expressions.
No. . . gods. . . no.
